On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. (BST), in collaboration with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand and companies within the Map Ta Phut, Ban Chang, and nearby industrial estates, invited volunteers to participate in a beach cleanup in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup 2024. The event aimed to showcase the collective power of the industrial sector in Map Ta Phut, educating participants on waste sorting, which is crucial today, and fostering a sense of responsibility for keeping coastal areas clean.
The event, held at Laem Charoen Beach in Rayong, drew 3,500 volunteers, with Rayong Governor Khun Traipob Wongtrairat presiding over the opening ceremony. Khun Somkiat Boonsaksri, BST's Sustainable Development Manager, also participated. BST was responsible for the area near the Kao Yod Small Fishing Community, organizing activities like releasing aquatic animals, collecting beach litter, and sorting waste. This year, volunteers gathered over 3,800 kilograms of trash, which will be sorted and recycled as part of waste management efforts.
The initiative aimed to promote community participation in environmental conservation, raise awareness about the marine litter problem, restore ecological balance, and support local fishermens livelihoods. Participants also learned about waste management and the importance of preserving natural resources.
